Cups Grams
How It Works
Cups measure volume, but different ingredients pack differently — a cup of flour weighs much less than a cup of sugar or butter — so this uses standard grams-per-cup reference values for each ingredient rather than a single fixed volume conversion.
Example
1 cup of all-purpose flour is approximately 120 grams; 1 cup of granulated sugar is approximately 200 grams.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why isn't this the same as the Volume Converter?
- The Volume Converter converts pure volume (like cups to milliliters). This tool converts volume to weight, which depends on the specific ingredient's density.
- Are these exact measurements?
- These are standard baking reference values. Actual weight can vary slightly based on how an ingredient is packed or sifted — for precise baking, a kitchen scale is more accurate.
